GRANTS PASS, Ore. (October 5, 2018) – Dutch Bros raised $431,283 for local kids’ organizations with this year’s Buck for Kids (B4K) event. Held annually on National Coffee Day, Sept. 29, B4K donates $1 from each drink sold to local children’s organizations. Since its inception in 2006, B4K has raised a grand total of more than $2.1 million.
“The kids in our community are incredibly important to us,” said Travis Boersma, CEO and co-founder of Dutch Bros Coffee. “We are so grateful to our customers for coming out to support them on Buck For Kids day.”
Today, B4K is one of the most popular fundraisers held companywide. It is surpassed only by Drink One for Dane, which raised more than $1.3 million in one day this year.
Dutch Bros began celebrating B4K in 2006. Ten years later, in 2016, it began holding the annual fundraiser on National Coffee Day as a way to further celebrate its communities and capture the enthusiasm around the commemoration of a nationwide favorite.
On B4K day, Dutch Bros’ goal is to make a positive and substantial impact on the day-to-day lives of the people in its communities, specifically the children within them. Each local operator chooses which local kids’ nonprofit to support, and the funds raised directly benefit youth in those communities.
