Dutch Bros locations in Utah donate nearly $15,000 to Make-A-Wish Utah

February 9, 2021

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (Feb. 9, 2021) – Dutch Bros locations in Utah donated $14,920 to Make-A-Wish Utah, the local chapter of the national nonprofit organization. The donation was raised in partnership with customers at Dutch Bros shops in Salt Lake City and Provo on Friday, Jan. 29.

In anticipation of the event, a wish was revealed at Dutch Bros Centerville on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Wish kid Cecilia, 6, was diagnosed with leukemia shortly after her fourth birthday, qualifying her to receive a wish. During her chemotherapy treatments at the hospital, Cecilia enjoyed singing, dancing, and styling her dolls which inspired her wish to have her own shopping spree. Cecilia plans to purchase a new wardrobe showcasing as much pink, sparkly and ruffled apparel as she can find.

“We’re so grateful for all of the customers who came out in support of Make-A-Wish Utah,” said Blake Pratt, operator of Dutch Bros Centerville. “Our staff was pumped to be part of a wish reveal for a local child. We’re honored to help support an organization making such a positive impact in our community.”

The excitement was high at all participating Dutch Bros locations with decorations in Make-A-Wish colors and Wish families rolling through each drive-thru to share their thanks. Dutch Bros hosted an additional wish child Friday at Dutch Bros West Valley City where employees presented wish kid Sinai with a wish enhancement gift. Sinai is 10 years old and has been diagnosed with leukemia. Sinai’s wish is to have a shopping spree where she can purchase toys to give to children of all ages in Mexico (where her family is from). Sinai and her family will be visiting Mexico later this year and will take the toys with them to donate to kids in her parents’ hometown. In celebration of Sinai’s wish, and to acknowledge her generous wish, Dutch Bros employees surprised Sinai with gifts at the drive-thru window, in addition to her Mango Banana Frost!

“We are so thankful for the creativity and generosity demonstrated by Dutch Bros, their employees, and their customers through this day of giving,” said Jared Perry, President & CEO of Make-A-Wish Utah. “A wish gives children renewed energy and strength, brings families closer together and unites communities. We are grateful to Dutch Bros for helping us share the power of a wish with supporters throughout our community and celebrate some of our amazing wish children like Cecilia and Sinai.”
